“By biggest struggle was overcoming the addiction to trying diets and obsessing with weight loss, in addition to the all-or-none mindset and being scared of food and eating generally. I’ve learned about mindfulness – slowing down eating and enjoying it and actually tasting it and thinking more about the satisfaction and enjoyment than the calories/nutrient breakdown and how it will or won’t contribute to my weight loss. I now use mediation and breathing to center myself, and focus on making meals sacred and special. I’ve let go of the diet mentality, gotten out of “victim-mode,” and am finally pursuing a career I enjoy…” – C. O.

If food was just food?

mindful eating community

…instead of something to create stories and scripts around?

What would it feel like to not worry so much about what you “should” eat next or “shouldn’t” have eaten moments ago?

Imagine you were able to nourish and serve your body with your food choices, while still getting pleasure and enjoyment out of food? Imagine experiencing peace and freedom with food. Being able to eat anything and everything in moderation, in amounts that truly satisfy. You can happily stop eating when you’re full. And you don’t have to micromanage, control, and obsess over food.

What would change in your life if you felt good about your body?

If you could be happy no matter what size you were? If you could accept your body and maybe even learn to love it, flaws and all? Stretch marks and all? And learn to treat it well. Joyfully nourish and move your body.

Confidence. Ease. Freedom.

What if you could figure out this food and body stuff so you had more energy to build a beautiful, happy life?

You could let go of all the rules and feel empowered and liberated, while STILL caring for your health. You could go out into the world and truly shine.

Radiating positivity and love, because you’ve finally learned how to have a positive and loving relationship with yourself.

Potentially, you’re on this path already and you want to keep going and learning more about these joyful approaches to health, nutrition, and body image. And if that’s the case, fricking FABULOUS!

But it might be more true that this all feels like a far-fetched idea right now.

Right now, food isn’t just food. Your body isn’t something you feel you can accept. You’re not happy with the way things are. You don’t feel the confidence, ease, or freedom that you want to feel.

You’re frustrated by the choices you’re making and feel like eating in a way that serves you is so hard. You either obsess about food and allow it to take up so much mental space or you say “forget it” and you eat and drink whatever is in front of you no matter how you feel. You know deep down you’re not fueling yourself well. There’s something missing when you think about mind-body-soul wellness. And you constantly feel like you should be eating differently than you are or “taking more control” over your diet.

But you’re also so tired of “should-ing” on yourself and so tired of all the diet and health advice out there. There’s so much fear around food and I mean, it’s exhausting. You’re tired of not knowing what to do with cravings and you hate feeling like you don’t have enough willpower. It’s like you’re addicted to sugar… or salt… or something. And you feel shitty about it. You beat yourself up.

‘I’d like to love my body,’ you say, but the truth is, you don’t! And you’re constantly comparing yourself to other people.

“Why can’t I just look like Nikki Minaj? Or Beyonce? Or at least that girl I see everyday in the coffee line…”

“I wonder if MY butt looks like that…”

“Holy crap I need to lose this weight”

You feel like big sacrifices seem to result in small improvements in your health, weight, and how you feel about your body.

It’s not all your fault. There’s a reason why 91% of women are dissatisfied with their bodies and resort to dieting or manipulating their food intake as a way to change their bodies.

Diet culture and the multi-billion dollar weight loss industry play a huge role in this dissatisfaction and people’s weight loss obsessions, which promotes an all-or-none mindset around food and eating, contributes to negative eating behaviours, and poor body image.

Did you know that the pursuit of weight loss actually leads to WEIGHT GAIN in the majority of the population and contributes to an increased risk for eating disorders? What bullshit!

So of course, in our society, it’s hard for food to just be food, for you to love your body, and feel free to focus on other more important things. OF COURSE! It’s not because you don’t have enough willpower, or you’re flawed in some weird way.

The current way we relate weight, health, and body image in society is completely flawed.

Despite these diet culture messages and the social conditioning to look a certain way and eat a certain way, you can choose something different.

And you don’t have to wait until some point in the future. You can choose, right now (yes at your current weight), to not buy into the BS and to follow a different path toward food peace, body respect, and a more inspired life.

The question is, are you willing to change? Are you willing to do the work to forgive yourself and move forward? Are you willing to treat yourself more like you’d treat your daughter or a close friend, instead of your biggest enemy? Are you willing to let yourself be supported, so that you can heal your relationship with food and your body, and live a beautiful life? Maybe you don’t feel worthy of all that. But I can assure you, you most definitely are. Can you imagine the possibility that you are worthy right now, and you’ve been inherently worthy all along?

Are you ready to love yourself into better health and happiness? It’s a big ask, I know.

Please say yes. When you heal yourself, you heal the world.

Okay, before I get too carried away with my passionate rant, let me introduce myself.

casey berglundI spent the better part of my life having a hate-on for my body – always thinking it should look different. I was a total perfectionist and people pleaser, taking on one thing after another in an effort to prove to everyone else that I was good enough. And although I knew a lot about food and nutrition as a Registered Dietitian, I didn’t really have a healthy relationship with it. I tried to control food, but food really controlled me and how I lived.

It wasn’t until I started seriously practicing yoga that my relationship with my body and food started to transform.

Yoga helped me let go of my perfectionist diet mentality and made me more mindful and balanced. It allowed me to connect with and trust my own unique inner wisdom. It helped me learn to love my body {and my body transformed in the process}, to manage my stress, and to feel in charge and more trusting around food.

I started yoga for the workout, and I stayed for everything else that yoga brought to my life.

And it’s the philosophies in the yogic tradition and related spiritual practices that continue to inform how I coach clients toward healthier and happier lives. And I speak and write about them too as a contributor to popular media outlets like…

Media Logos

And now, I want to share the power of yoga with you, combined with coaching and science. Cool, right? I want to share the gems of wisdom that come from yoga philosophy, health science, and the anti-diet, body positive, Health At Every Size communities that I’m part of.

In fact, I want to create a movement, and I sincerely want you to join this movement.

I developed Yoga for Mindful Eating and Living – The Workshop to educate you about the negative influences of diet culture and empower you to eat mindfully, love your body, and live consciously. This workshop is a powerful intro to my full course, Yoga for Mindful Eating and Living – The Course, and I’m touring The Workshop across the country this summer.

That’s right, Worthy and Well is going on a Cross-Canada Road Tour! Woooo!

I want to meet you, face-to-face and hear your story. I want you to share in a physical space with me and other amazingly courageous individuals, so that we can do our part in taking down diet culture and support one another in building healthy relationships with food.

I want there to be a day when women stand in each other’s presence and share how blown away they are by their amazing bodies. I want women to communicate less about what they are cutting out of their diets, and talk more about what they are ADDING to their lives. It’s my hope that the time and space all wrapped up in food and body obsessions gets released and freed up for something bigger. More powerful. Your deeper purpose.

We deserve this.

Yoga for Mindful Eating and Living – The Workshop is perfect for…

  • The soulful person who deeply wants to heal her relationship with her body and food through yoga, EVEN if she’s never practiced yoga before, and EVEN if she’s got a couple of physical limitations. FYI, I LOVE teaching yoga to “non-yogis.”
  • The chronic dieter who is sick of the food fight and the body bashing, and who’s ready to find another way.
  • The individual curious about mindful eating, body positivity, and a Health At Every Size approach to being well.
  • The health professional who wants to add tools to her toolbox…

Yoga for Mindful Eating and Living is NOT for…

  • The closed minded person with no need to explore her relationship with food and her body. She is 100% happy with her body and how she eats right now.
  • Someone who is happy with approaching health through the lens of diet culture.

“I’ve developed a regular meditation practice, more time for self-reflection, and ensuring self-care is a part of my daily routine (most of the time!).  I’ve experienced a transformative shift in my mindset around control and trust. Letting go of gripping for control in situations and trusting my intuition or others around me has improved my stress levels, and facilitated decision-making for some major life changes. I love Casey’s overarching philosophy of self-worth, and how each of her teaching points were so relatable on so many levels. Everything just clicked–the synchronization of the chakras with discussions and strategies for personal and professional development was so inspiring.” – S.O.
